The stereo in my '02 is great - don't know what the fuss is all about!
However, a MD changer can only be bought (it seems) from Japan and works out at

In all honesty pretty much any headunit that has an IR reciever can be made to work with the dash controls using a PAC SWI-X module. The only slight snag is that you need to position the infra red transmitter eye somewhere behind the drop down flap (drill a small hole). Pioneer offer there own branded IR transmitter interface that comes pre-programmed and they have MD head units/CD changers in their range.
AFAIK the only hardwired (i.e. non IR) solution is Alpine. They have a number of MD/tuner headunits that can be linked to CD changers but don't offer an MD changer over here.
Kenwood and Sony do MD changers and can be made to work via the PAC solution. Lucid sells the PAC unit I believe.

The Alpine unit is a KCE865B. It's a plug and play device, and works a treat. You just need to make sure that the head unit has the relevant 3.5mm socket for the wired remote control. Not sure about the MD stuff, but from their website it certainly looks like they only have an MD head unit, and no autochanger units. Personally, I have the MP3 CD head unit (7878) - one CD can hold upwards of 160 tracks, so have no need for an autochanger.
