molybendum and recall work
Hi,
My car goes in for recall work this Saturday (oil bolts and plugs), can anyone clarify what the molybendum is/does and whether it should be added?
The car was registered June 2002 and has done 4600 miles and is still on mineral oil as per Honda manual (until first service IIRC?) The dealer didn't ask the mileage when I phoned to book it in. Oh, and what oil should they refill with?
I'ts going to Dixon Honda in Bradford and I know nothing of their reputation and so am a little nervous of them working on the car and want to be armed with the full facts.
Thanks, David.

Hi David,
I asked this exact same question a couple of months ago when my car went in for the spark plugs and oil bolts. The thread is here but essentially molybdenum needs to be added if you car has done less than 6,000 miles.
Oil - I let them fill mine up with their semi-synthetix (Shell Helix Ultra IIRC) as it the only way I was going to get free oil
and my car had stopped drinking oil anyway. I'd say anything apart from fully synthetic.
If your car requires the oil bolts (you can check on the Honda website) then you'll get an extra years warranty on the engine etc. to start when your 3 year warranty expires. You may have to prompt them about this, its all in the above thread.
Good luck
