Default MOT

Hi all, is there any benefit to having the first MOT done at a dealer over any other MOT place? Common sense says no but just thought I'd get the wise opinions from you guys!

Cheers, Umesh

I've a local indie that is more inclined to let things pass if he knows you'll fix them when you get home (like low-ish pads for example).

I also knew of places that were less strict on emissions tests etc. if they knew you had a cat in the garage at home

I also know places that give you the "trade" price instead of the, "joe public" price.

Most Honda dealers just take the car to the local MOT garage anyway.
If the Honda dealer is a specialist on the S2000 then would be better taking it there, any 'usual' Honda dealer then just get the MOT done the cheapest place. It's only a piece of paper that's valid at the time of the test anyway.

My dealer (Crown) does MOTs for free provided you have your car serviced there, so it may be a false economy.

Little known fact that some councils have their own MOT station for their own vehicles.

But by law they have to be "open to the public".

I'd be more inclined to take it to an indie for the MOT. They are less likely to tell you that you need a new tyre etc......

If it's your first MOT, get it done by the dealer shortly before the warranty expires - that way anything they find needing done that isn't a consumable you won't have to fork out yourself.

That's what I'll be doing in a few months time.
