How much does that cost you?

I've mostly had mine done at the Nationwide Autocentre half a mile down the road.

Kwik (un)Fit normally subscribe to the same old dealer BS that lofty mentioned.
"You need new calipers, your discs are rusty, you have a blown damper, yada yada yada"

My advice is to go where you can view the work, and never leave the car.
That way it won't be found ram-raiding halfords in the lunch hour. Or worse.

If you want an MOT centre with no axe to grind and who don't carry out repairs, why not use a council site?

You may pay a bit more for the test but you won't get screwed.

The one and only time I used a local garage I got the "you need new pads, discs, exhaust, blah, blah, blah", so I never bothered again.

What about Honda in Chester? What used to be Saunders - don't know what they are called now or if they will give S2KUK discount?

Small ( basically private individual) independent who does a cracking job, he's got my MOT details and insurance dates in his black book as well as service items and what was changed and when it was changed. He rings me to arrange collection and returns it once it is done. I wouldn't let anywhere else deal with it.

I've never had anything "extra" required when it was MOT time, other than a set of wiper blades (£16 maybe?). They also do the MOT in-house so I can go and see what they're talking about. If something "nearly" needs doing, I tell them not to bother. Having seen some of the local friendly garages around here, I wouldn't let them within a mile of my S, so

Well free generally means nothing, but that's not what you mean.

As long as I get it serviced by them, the MOT cost me nothing.

Honda prices are what they are and I'm sure they're high enough to help cover the MOT cost to the garage.

Alex - where did you take your Leon before you bought the S2000? If it was a local garage, take it there.
Failing that, ask your mates who live near you where they take their cars.

If you're still stuck, Black Diamond Warrington do mine - top bunch of blokes and usually they have an MOT offer or two on. I think my last one with them was £29, with no "well, we reckon you need this, that and maybe a change of this..."

Cheers for all the info guys, I've taken it all on board!

It's a pain that my MOT and serverice are 6 months apart otherwise I'd have got rob @ garage r to do it...

Ideally I'd like to find somewhere local but like any other city city theres a lot of cowboys round Manchester that I wouldnt dare trust.

If I find anywhere reputable I'll let you know

Hey mate

Used to take the Leon to SEAT crewe lol.

Honda in crewe are actually very good its just they're a bit far away and will never budge on £55.
