Montag, don't ignore Shell Regular, The numbers prove ordinary unleaded is a false economy in a car designed for high octane.

Just to add, as I spend a lot of time on more generic car forums which I wont name here.
The general consensus to the diesel vs petrol debate is normally - you need to be doing xx thousand miles a year for it to actually be any cheaper for a diesel, before you factor in the fact it's more boring and dull to drive.
Even if comparing say a 330 petrol with a 330 diesel, after you take into account the fact the petrol is cheaper to buy, insure, and service, will be more reliable due to all the issues with diesel engines, then it really isn't worth it unless doing big miles or a lot of motorway work.
Anyone who says if you're getting high MPG in an s2000 you bought the wrong car blah blah rubbish I've seen spouted here before - if you're cruising on the motorway you shouldn't be accelerating, caning, vtecing etc so should see good MPG.

MPG along with AP2, two things that shouldn't be brought up for fear of wrath
You'd be safer talking about street racing.
People who say you shouuldn't be accelerating or using VTEC on a motorway obviously don't have tunnels or traffic on their journeys.

I dont worry about mpg to much iv never even calculated it. all i know is its get around 70 miles to £20 of v-power.
i dont agree with you've bought the wrong car if your worried about mpg, Who doesn't want more miles driving for less money, id get that statement if you bought a real supercar don't buy it unless you can run it, S2000 as much as i love mine is no super car and dont have to have hundreds off thousands in the bank to own one or run one. people on Job seekers can own and drive one. not into pompous comments

I get ~25mpg. To get any more would mean driving cautiously and avoiding using the engine to it's full. If I wanted no fun I would drive a 60mpg diesel or even just an mx5.

I've not no. Didn't actually mean to call the MX5 no fun, more that if I didn't want an engine to be rung out I'd have one of those and happily live with a lower pace and probably better mpg than you can get through caution in the S2000 while having a pleasurable handling car.

This week I did 115 miles and used half my tank, so about £30. If I'd driven really, really carefully I could best case have saved £10.
