Default MX5 vs S2000

Looking on one of the old forums i use to haunt and have just stumbled into a 'race' (so to speak) heated debate about mx5s out handling s2000 on track and being difficult to drive ???

Personally i love the stance of the s2000 and enjoy the 'over step the mark, and ill kill you' handling but my question is will i be out done by an mx5 on track ..... i doubt it but we never know

If the mx5 is driven better and there aren't too many long straights, it'll go quicker than a S.

No chance my MX5 handled beautifully and was really predicatble, but there is no way my MX5 would have cornered as well as the S2000.

Here's some footage of me and an MX-5 round Donington from Saturday. I let the MX-5 past me as he was a tiny bit quicker round the track, although I was backing off on the straights as I was catching him pretty easily.

However, the MX-5 in question was completely stripped for racing and had a more experienced driver (nice chap by the way).

I suspect that some of the fastest S2000s would have been quicker than him, and had it been a standard MX-5, then I would have been quicker.

Nice vid, out of interest did you use a screen mounted camera?

That MX5 is in the same vein as PJL's S2000, not really comparable.

When I had my MX5 it did genuinely inspire confidence to push on more than the S2000 does, I always felt that the MX5 would break away a lot earlier but remain very controllable compared to the S2000.
