The R400 sped up quite a bit later in the day and was keeping up with you and me Graham
Yep, that was when JG's mate Simon got his hands on it

that crash was coming for quite a while wasn't it?
It was but IIRC this video was on Pistonheads a while ago, apparently something broke on the Elise that's why it was all over the place for a couple of corners before.

My question here is why keep pushing it?

Chilled was catching a Caterham R400 in an S on Saturday.

The difference between an R400 and an S is much bigger than the difference between an MX5 and an S.

It happens people, it really does
With different drivers maybe, depends on how good you are, but with the same competent driver IMO having owned both the S2000 is in a different league, as most people would expect.

Well, watching LG's Video, MX-5s are obviously faster than S2000s (bar 1) Aldis, Tivs etc.

Mind you, the way he was trail-braking it like a kart into the corners, he knows how to drive and that technique is tricky in the S2000.

But the S2000 handles superbly on the circuit, as LG's car was demonstrating.

Getting behind a driver like that is a good way to learn the correct approach.

Chilled was way quicker than me but I was shite in the Cat although I will say that the BatCats had really shady tyres and squirmed around all over the place and the other Cats that weren't BatCats were miles quicker than all of the BatCats.

Made me feel like a shitey driver though! Being over taken by an S2k whilst driving a Cat superlight isn't something to be proud of. It's definitely all about the driver

I'm not sure I'd say a different league, but it's all relative really and depends on your definition of leagues

I was just trying to explain how different things are on track to how they are on the road and how it's quite possible for an MX5 to be quicker on the latter.

The BatCat tyres certainly need a lot of warming and even then were a bit squirmy, but i wouldn't say that the other Caterhams on the day were miles quicker than all the BatCats. I went out with Graham as a passenger and then he came out with me in Bat6. Graham's car obviously had a bit more grip which he put down to a combination of tyres and set up, but then the BatCat's do a lot more miles so need tyres that will last a bit longer.

The BatCats do need a bit of learning, but i can safely say that the only cars i had to let past during the day were Graham's Caterham, and the other Caterham driven by the experience racer that was even quicker than Graham.

Graham was quicker than me (as you'd expect as he's got more experience in his car and drives it better accordingly) but not massively so.

EDIT: also don't forget that how well you know the circuit makes a big difference to how quickly you lap.

Just watched the vid. The guy can clearly drive, although i seem to recall passing him. No video evidence of that though.

LG, your driving has definitely improved, pretty good lines. A bit more right foot and a brave pill is all that's needed I think.
