Default New wheels - Keeping them clean...

I have some nice shiny new wheels on the way. Is there any kind of treatment or wax I can use on them to protect them from the ravages of brake dust, salt from the roads etc that will also make them easier to keep clean?

My standard 17's are a bugger to keep clean. I seem to be using wonder wheels like it's going out of fashion as the brake dust is a bugger to shift. Then again they are in desperateneed of a refurb though so that won't be helping.

Your advice please chaps.

G-techniq C5 wheel armour

Full clean and IPA wipe down first to ensure product adhere's to the topcoat .

Do it once in the spring and again in the autumn .

Do not use wonder wheel's as it will strip protective coating's instantly .

Regard's John .

Hi Gary,

Ever since I got a set of wheels (off you I believe) and had them refurbed, I have used PoorBoys wheel sealant -its pink - and the brake dust and other crap just washes off dead easy. Never had to scrub or even resort to a brush. Have also done the inside of the rims for when I clean the wheels up for the summer - ditto, the dirt just washes off. Does exactly what it says on the jar!

Rim Wax for me (that sounds so Ann Summers) very east to apply and keeps the dust loose and easy to hose off, and it smells of bubble gum!

Top tip, give the back of the wheels a couple of coats before you fit them.
