Just noticed the third picture of the clips I was trying to describe, plus the bolts and now I can see how the rears are held on - screws - so there will be plastic blocks preset in the body to screw them into.

Thanks for that will have another look now that they are definetly for the wheel arches. Will have to let Dad know that he'll have to dfrive carefully without these fitted!

Might be a good idea to make sure the suspention packers have all been removed while you looking in the arch area

You don't know what else may have been missed.
Read the tech FAQ (Check Neil_2k's sig for url) but make sure the spring spacers have been removed.

It might be time to use some of that money you've saved with Motorpoint and get a dealer to PDi the car.

Checked suspension blocks, they've been removed. Rest of the car fine. Done 1k miles now not consumed much oil. Only funny thing is that when the car is parked sometimes it makes an odd buzzing noise which repeats every two mins! We've had a GT CAT1 alarm fitted but this isn't set up right so it could be related to this. Once alarm sorted will monitor and if it continues will see Honda.
