Default OEM 17" Wheel Tyre sizes.

Bridestone RE050s:

On the front E050MZ 215/45/R17 87W
On the Rear E050MZ 245/40/R17 91W

But what are the recommended sizes for non Bridestone.

Can anyone else recommend a particular tyre they've used and found to be good or used and should be avoided. Or is the RE050 the best option for that money??

What's your problem with the RE050, as a matter of interest?

I found it to be a far better all-round tyre than the S02 ever was.

I think you can get Goodyear F1 Eagle GSD3s in the correct 17" OEM sizes - they're worth considering. A know at least of the non-OEM 17" owners swears by them.

I've got no problem with RE050's since I've never used them. Just wanted to see if there was anything better for the same or even less money.

Definately would want something better than the S02's in the Wet.

You can

I use 225/45 ZR17 front, 245/40 ZR17 rear.

The 04/05 is much better than the 02 in the wet, but it's difficult to tell how much is attributable to geo/set up changes on the newer model, and how much is down to tyres - I suspect is it is more down to tyres though.

You can get Eagle F1's in the right Size, the elder eagle has some give him a shout and see what he thinks vs the RE050's (I've not asked him)

I'll wait for him to pop along as I'm not getting them until a couple of days anyway.

Another question; For RE050 rears its recommended 245/40/R17

How much difference would putting the same tyre in say, a 45 profile, make?

Could someone clarify this for me please? I know there is probably a reason for the recommended profile on the rear tyres being 40 but would 45 fit ok?

putting a 45 series rear tire on a 17 inch wheel will throw off your speedo... 45 series will have a larger diameter then a 40 series tire on the rear.... which will mean you'll be slower, it'll take more power to turn those tires, yada yada yada....

45 up front and 40 in the rear on a 17 inch wheel....

another tire to check out is the bf goodrich ta kdw 2... i have them on my car and i was very impressed with them.. both in dry and wet weather...
