Moderator comment: Please note that txt spk is not allowed in the UK section, thanks.

Not all dealers are bad. As I've said, mine use the correct grade and charge very little for it.

I went on that handy site eurocarparts, got a 5 litres of Mobil 1 and the Bosch oil filter for £28 using a 50% off code........I'm thinking a 'Honda stamp' in my book would actually lower the value of my 2000! ;-)

Bosch oil filter
Wrong filter. Can you return it?

I will having my S2000 serviced next month and like always I will be supplying the oil (Castrol 5w40) along with oil filter and sump plug washer.

I will be using my local Honda dealership which I have done for the past few years just to get the book stamped otherwise I would do it myself.

The painful thing for me is that the year before the car covered 960 miles between services and this time the mileage is 434miles from since it was serviced Feb 2018. I have thought about missing one year but for the sake of £150 I might as well get it done and get the stamp along with the MOT.

If you are concerned or worried about the type of oil they will be using then I would advise that you supply your own oil.

If it was Cheshire Oaks they'd probably stick some random oil in its place and keep the decent stuff for themselves......just saying ;-)

I'm not convinced a Honda stamp is worth the extra expense and potential hassle.

Some dealers seem to lack basic knowledge on older Honda's (to put it politely)

As mentioned already, it doesn't take long to ask the dealership what they use for oil before dropping your car off. I started using a full synthetic at the first oil change and have continued using this oil for nineteen plus years. I always use a Honda filter. Just keep all your receipts for the oil and filter. This is all you need to satisfy Honda while the car is still under warranty. This is clearly stated in the owners manual. If a potential buyer gets hung up on seeing every oil receipt for twenty years, and consider it a deal breaker if one or two are absent, can go buy a different car they like better. I would be more concerned that all the other fluids were changed regularly, and brakes and other major components were maintained to Honda's schedule.
