Default Oil yet again!

Did someone mention the O word again!!!!
The S is coming upto an oil and filter change and I have been running Shell Helix Ultra 5w-40 oil for the past year or so. Now I've noticed oil consumption has increased the last few weeks, now i'm topping up 100-200ml every week, the cars doing approx 250 miles per week. So i'm thinking is the Shell stuff maybe a little too thin and should I go to a 10w-40 based oil or should I have honda look into the oil consumption issue, i'm thinking it may just be getting used or drawn through the breathing system.

As my car is quite partial to the odd drop of oil, that sort of rules out Redline oil as I need a contant supply for topups and i change my oil every 4.5k

Anybody running with Castrol Magnatec?

In fact who is running what oil?

Shell Helix 5W-40

Changing to Redline 10W30 at the next service.

I know my car was run on Magnatec by the previous owner, as it had a card hanging from one of the pipes.

Halfrauds 5W40.

The amount mine gets through (similar to yours) I'm thinking that the oill isn't in there long enough to show the difference between expensive stuff and Halfrauds.

If you're doing 4.5k changes, I don't see a lot of point in going for something expensive either.

The dealer used Magnatec at my last service, so I have been topping up with that since then.

I'm probably going to get it changed for either Shell Helix or Redline at the next 4.5K service, but only because they seem to be the oils recommended by the experts.
