I know exactly how you feel as I've been after an S for almost a year now and had very similar questions (all of which admirably answered by those better informed and placed to answer than me).
I'm still in the process of trying to establish if I can afford it or not. Hoping to place the order in the next few months. Also scared to go into a dealer in case I do something rash there and then.
In my quest to find the best place to buy I found www.buyyourcar.co.uk last night. They appear to save

I remember waiting for about a year before I got my S and each day takes it out of you until you realise you are another day closer.
It is worth the wait - they are great cars. Hang in there dude

2.9 years! Pure torture, especially with the advanced questions you are already asking! I wouldn't be able to last the distance.
My bet is you'll have one before the year is out
Consider what Bassoctopus said, especially if you buy an older cherished one for sale on this site.

Seriously, how can you look about now for a car that you're going to buy in 3 years?
It's a great car don't get me wrong, but who knows what will be about in 2008!

I agree with GTFCTIM, every time i drive my S it's fun, and i haven't experienced a summer yet. I had two Civic Type R's in row before my S and they were fantastic cars but the S is extra special. I feel so lucky that i have been able to afford such good cars because i am not a high earner. For nine years i have been working 50- 72 hours per month in overtime to afford my cars but it has been worth it.

Thanks a lot guys, a lot of your answers helped.
I would love to (and could technically) just run down to the Dealer and buy one right now....but...ok, I can't think of a good 'but'...give me a minute
on the age question, I was 21 last November, so far (bear in mind, this was a rough quote, guessing on the specs etc...did it about 3 weeks ago before I knew anything about S's) I've been quoted
