Default Optimax

Anyone tried it yet?

I'm on my second tank....

There's a strange surge in the power delivery around 7.5K rpm. Happens every time. VTEC cuts in, power cuts in.... Bizarre. If anything the car's quicker. The Impreza has better throttle response which doesn't seem to have happened in the S2000

Anyone else tried it and experienced this?

Andy,

I get the same feeling in the S2000, throttle response seems improved, I also think that the stop/start traffic problem isn't as bad. I've been using it for 3 tanks now.

However saying that my car now has 7.5K on the clock and I'm convinced it just gets faster by the week so the optimax factor may just be coincidence.

The power surge in 3rd gear is now fantastic, I just love 3rd gear from 60-90. I find the VTEC kick strongest in this gear and its my favourite by far, by contrast I'm not a big fan of 1st, too much noise and not enough go but thankfully it doesnt last too long

Fortunately, Optimax arrived at my local Shell garage on the day I took delivery - used it since day one.

I've done 2500 miles since delivery on 24th August, seems to get quicker on each run

I've used it for 2 tanks now, and the car seems so much smoother. Definitely don't have so much of the stop/start traffic problem as well.

Aparently Shell market Optimax as a low sulphur petrol rather than super unleaded. This get's them round the tax rate for SUL and qualifies them for the low sulphur rate. So how come it's still SUL prices

Wll, there had to be some catch for those of you who can get it

If petrol costs are getting you down, go for the Nissan Micra hire car experience ™.

Had to put a bit of petrol in last night, didn't think that it was going to be a tad les thirsty than my S2000/ITR.

Mean't to put small amount it. Ended up filling the tank before I was even watching the pump figures I swear it's even slower with the weight of ~20 liters of petrol
