Default Origin b2 - mounting Laser Detector?

Finally ditched the Road Angel Classic - damn thing has been taking forever to lock on to satellites, e.g. 50-miles around the M25 and still no lock. So now have the Origin b2 (not solo).
There are two possible positions for mounting the Laser Detector as far as I can see. Either vertically hanging down behind the rear-view mirror, or vertically standing up from the middle of the dash placed as far forwards against the windscreen as possible - needs the mounting bracket bent into a rightangle. With the former, the detector is quite obvious from outside = target for Plod. With the dash mount, more vertically closer to the number plate, but only just above the of lie of the wipers - also a tea-leaf target.

Has anyone else mounted it on the dash and any experiences with the efficiency of either location?
Also, anyone have the pin out for the Laser Diffuser cable? I suspect it's a 3-ring mini-jack, +12v, negative, and diffuser alert/trigger. Although the diffuser is already separately wired for +12v and -'ve.

I have the Solo (but the laser detector is still separately mounted) but unlike our feathered friend, I prefer not to be able to see the it when I'm driving so I mounted it behind the rear view mirror.

This of course means that it won't detect anything from behind, but given it's never gone off in my year of ownership (including when I aimed a laser pointer at it whilst sprawled on the bonnet ), I'm not too worried ...

IIRC, the laser detector component will be made illegal if they ever pass the latest Road Safety Act, so we'll all have to disconnect them anyway.

Mine's behind the mirror. It works. I know this cos the one and only time its ever gone off I got 3 points. By the time i'd thought 'what the f*** is that beeping noise' (thinking at first it was coming from the S), realised what it was and jumped on the quiet pedal, it was all too late...

Tip #1: get someone to point their mobile infra-red at it a couple of times while you sat in vehicle (pretending as best you can not to expect it. lol)

Tip #2: Dont speed.

In view of the high seat back, I don't think it would detect rear targeting by Plod when on the dash either.

With the Snooper diffuser, I could only get a Laser alert when firing a specific brand of remote control at it - Finlux brand. However, whilst filmed with a video camcorder, I could see the diffuser fire back with every brand of remote control that I had. Snag is, Plod doesn't go around with remote controls, so like you, I've absolutley no idea if the damn thing works/jams in practice.

A.E. Sorry, should have been more specific. I'm looking for the wiring for the yellow connector - for attaching an optional diffuser. Origin offer a

Tried that too and it still didn't go off ...

Glad I didn't shell out for the optional diffuser

My laser detector is now in a sealed clear plastic box, mounted inside the front grill. OK - it wont see a signal from behind, no one can see it and its just below the front number plate.
It does work - camera van set it off last week end but I'd already seen him!

Absolutly correct - they will be outlawed.
Also remember this - if it ever does go off it probably meands you have just been clocked. The theory is that the detector picks up reflected laser radiation from some other poor soul who is being targeted but in practice this is highly unlikely give the reduced power output om modern equipment. So if it does ever go off you can be pretty sure its because plod or a SCP person has a lock on you. therefore you are almost certainly nicked if you were speeding.

Far better IMHO to porgramme know laser lurker sites into your GPS so that it sounds an alert.
