Default Parkers Used Car Values

Is the Parkers Used Price Guide good for estimating the price of a secondhand S2000 or does it tend to over/underinflate actual sale values that could be expected in general?

You're best off looking at ads here, Pistonheads or Autotrader to get an idea of current prices.

Parker's or Glass' come out once a year IIRC, and the prices of soft tops change quite a bit depending on the time of year.

Parkers guides are from glasses guide - which all the garages use.

once tried using one to get a better part ex and the sales guy says they never used em because they always got it wrong, unless of course its the selling price then they are quite happy to use the quoted price

Glasses guide comes out for use on the first of every month as does CAP, a similar product that a lot more traders now use, they tend to use one for buying(the lower price) and then whichever has the higher value to put a price on the screen. The clue is in the title though Glasses "Guide" book, options will have a relative effect on values such as colour, A/C etc that sales take into account when pricing and how desperate the punter is to buy/sell of course.
Prices on Pistonheads, Autotrader aren't quite representative as these show the asking price not the selling price which can be quite different.

That's what I was getting at - selling price compared to asking price. Pistonheads is free so some people seem to just try it on. Looking at Parkers though, my car seems to have gone up in price from £6750 to £7500 since 2 months ago, so not sure if I'm about to sell it cheaply or I'm putting a realistic sell price on. Is the S2000 so seasaonal????

Soft top? Yes. Especially after this weekend. Defo the time to sell if you were of that mind set.

Parkers - depends entirely on the model IME.

The Beemers I was looking into were under valued, the normal sale prices were close to ticket from what I could find out, and the tickets were well above parkers guide.

The S2000 was the opposite. Obvious from here and PH that the actual sale prices are well below Parkers.

HTH.
