9/10 it's a wiring loom.
I'd take the lower cover off & have a poke round there first.
Use gloves to push its clips off from the rear & make sure you've run the car with the heater on full for a long time.

cheers for the pointer but I'm 100% sure its the lid or a connector/ wire just under the lid,
If i drive and put my hand on the lid it stops the rattle.
Any tips on removal? pretty please

Disconnect the airbag wire under the dash and then remove the bolts holding it in. I believe there are 4 or 6. Then lift the whole thing out in 1. You will damage something if you try and remover the cover while it's still in the dash thats if you can even remove it.

Anyone else see this turning into a Darwin award?
I would take it to somewhere who knows what they are doing.

airbags are fine to take out if you know what your doing, I have removed mine from my Integra when necessary.
having said that ,the 1st time was a rather tense experience
I was hoping that the cover could be removed without taking it all out, I'll probably live with the rattle.
thanks guys

seriously, that was helpful .
It is not the first time that someone has had the airbag go on them when tweaking about around it.
And yes, they lived to tell the tale, but there was a chunk of pain involved.
Just trying to help you fella, but fill your boots. Prod away.

Hi all
Old thread but relevant for what I was looking for. Has anybody removed the passenger airbag cover ver the years?
I damaged mine whilst transporting some crap to the tip, luckily I only scratched the cover and not the main dash. Even luckier I bagged a pass airbag off eBay for 99p felt bad for getting do cheap but that's eBay
I've looked at the manual link above but looking at the cover it appears to just be clipped in place
Is it still best to remove the whole unit from below or prise off the cover from above. Either way is disconnect the battery and unplug the unit.
