A car which can crack ten seconds to 60 constitutes a performance car in your book Paul? You must be missing some decent poke!

Why don't you buy a 1.8 early MX5?

Toyota MR2, Austin Mini, possibly Nissan 200SX...

MGFs aren't that much more than 2k too.

Depends what you're after...

I was going to suggest the MX6 2.5V6

It has a lovely engine. Very reliable, relatively rare but has a strong enthusiasts following. Handles well.

The engine will do 300K mile easy if looked after.

I had one for a few years and loved it.

Buy yourself a classic.

It won't have the acceleration and top speed but it will
be cheap to run and a great smile factor.

There's always the Mazda MX3 1.8V6 too. If you fancy a giggle the 2.5V6 from the MX6 drops straight in.

Possibly the most fun you can have in a little car...
