Default Petrol Cap Release

Tonight my petrol cap release broke. I pull the release, but the cap doesn't open. Has this happened to anyone else and if so,was it an easy repair?

That's a new one!

I would guess if you take the panel off on the drivers side, just rearwards of the seat, you will find the cable.

I cant remember - been a long time since I had one.

PS - once you have pulled the lever can you actually open the petrol flap even though it hasnt popped open, or has the cable completely gone and wont unlatch the flap?

Thats it once it runs out of petrol now you'll have to sell it!

I'd take some of the carpet out the boot and have a look at the mechanism first it might be an easy fix

Yep, true, will be easier to pull the panel back in the boot.

At least you can see which end has gone!

Thanks for the speedy replies. Dark Blue Mark, if you pull the cap at the same time as pulling the release, it will open. It just doesn't pop open. The cable feels slack upon pulling the release, rather than totally broken at the moment.

Ah ok.

I would see if there is any adjustment you can make in the boot - there might be a nut or something as per the throttle cable.
