Platinum or Iridium and why?
Afternoon peeps,
Ok, I'm talking spark plugs here and would like opinions on which ones to get and why. I've read different posts from different people saying Platinum are best simply because that's what Honda would use, but I've also read threads that say Iridium are the best and that is what Honda would use.....???? I looked at Iridium ones and found two different part numbers but were both for S2K. So I'd like to know those in the know which would you suggest and why? Longer lasting? Hotter? More efficient etc etc.
Cheers guys,
Chad.

Iridium will last longer than platinum, the material IIRC requires less voltage to 'spark'. Power, economy, throttle response difference etc is minute between platinum and iridium IMO.
They will not increase power in a way, contrary to popular belief.
For long life use Iridium's and that why i use NGK ones - not much difference between the two other than longevity.

Cheers. I read about the spark needing less voltage somewhere. Have the NGK ones ever had any issues like the Denso ones? Heard and seen lots about the tips braking off and causing engine failure. One final thing...I've read two defferent part numbers for the NGK Iridium plugs, which ones are the most commonly used? One is apparently race spec, which sounds like they're chatting bubbles to me....? But the "race spec" ones are almost double the price
