Hello Phil

Yes this is true. I don't have problems like that cause i am LHD.

My mate has a custom made turbo. His car is really "sick". Basicaly you cannot see anything in the polished engine bay apart from the engine He has hide almost everything, wire loom etc, and has thrown most of the stuff he did not need cause he is drag-racing the car. The following links are from a car magazine presentation before installing the vtec-killers camshafts. He has much more power now.

I will take a closer photo of the engine bay to saw you. You cannot do the justice from this small photo but he has an amazing engine bay

[1] So long as you haven't covered it over with a 'cooling' [2] plate.

[2] No idea why it is given this name as it certainly doesn't help the cooling on the top of the engine bay.

Which is why i dont like them but its cooled by the coolant though (obviously), these cooling plates force onto the radiator.

The airflow inside the engine bay will be so turbulent that boundary layers just won't exist.

A polished surface may relect more radiated heat than a painted surface but won't radiate itself so well. However, with the things your talking about polishing, I'm sure any polishing will have minimal effect.
