Default Posting bits from the US

Hi,

Can anyone remember what value i have to declare an item to escape customs charges?

I know it has to be declared as a 'gift' and value under x dollars, think its under $50?

Cheers

Try using "spares or repairs". Worked a treat when I was sent my Darkside sub enclosure.

Here's the lowdown from HMRC http://customs.hmrc.gov.uk/channelsPortalW...cument#P26_2855

Personal Effects / Relocation is what I always use.

I've never paid import duty. Just make sure that any paperwork has a date at least a year old.

I think you can also try 'Samples Not For Resale'

And don't do what my mother-in-law did from Australia and artificially inflate the price so you are not embarassed by what the postman thinks.
