Default Potential diff problem?

Hi guys
Have I got a problem with my diff?
After a long drive when I pull away from traffic lights etc I can feel a juddering coming from the back of the car (nothing to do with the clutch) and a bit of a whining noise. It also sometimes happens when I reverse out of a parking space for example and not always after a long drive in this instance. It is very difficult for me to work out what it is because it seems to be an intermittant problem? The car had its 45k service at honda the other day they found nothing wrong with it, checked the diff oil level said it was fine and sent me on my way! But I am convinced the diff is on its way out? Has anyone else had simlar problems? I am driving this car to the south of france next month and really dont want it to break down. Any advise would be appriciated!
Thanks Tim

The last time a diff went on me there was a load of metal in the oil, if the oil is not contaminated it might be ok.

Have you checked the mounting points? as the bushes could be worn causing undue movement and the symptoms you describe.

Yes.

Mine juddered pulling away turning right and used to sing like a kettle. It was most irritating.

The oil was very black & smelled burnt, which makes me think the 27,000 change was missed.

A scrappy one seems to run much better. Not entirely quiet, but vastly better.

Would they have checked the bushes at the dealers? I asume an oil change wouldn't be a bad idea?

How much did a scrappy one cost you? Did you try changing the oil before replacing?

I'd try an oil change on the diff first and get the bushes checked for wear, fresh oil may help and for what it would cost there's nothing lost by giving it a try.
