Problem going into 5th gear.
.. And once again, search has all the answers.
After a lovely drive this morning at around 5am (couldn't sleep, long story) I had the usual but occasional problem where it wouldn't go into 5th easily. A bit of juggling of the gearstick and it goes in.
Home about 6 and have a brew and a search...
Pulled the centre console and gear lever assy apart to find 2 of the four bolts completely out an the other 2 only finger tight. Everything apart, all greased and back together and the change us now rifle bolt slick!
I'd always heard the gearlever action from this box was supposed to be great but I used to think it wasn't all that good. Found a post by previous owner in 07 complaining about the same problem lol.
Ten mins tinkering and I fixed the ashtray/cupholder cover at the same time as the spring has come off and it didn't whir open anymore.
Now to wash it and enjoy pottering around on bits and bobs on the car for the day.
In summary:
1: Sunday morning at 5am with the mist around is beautiful.
2: The little jobs are sometimes the most rewarding.
3: Search functionality is great (assuming you use the right phrases)
Have a lovely day. Mines started brilliantly.
