Can I ask, did you have to remove any of the side trim to adjust things? I had a look for the hard top service manual, found a pdf online, and it looks like I'll have to remove the trim, like h-u-t-c-h-i suggested, just seeing if that was the same process you went through. Looking like it'll have to wait till the weekend for me to give it a go.
Still, encouraging again to hear that you've had a similar problem and you were able to fix it
Also, I hesitate to ask what other issues you had, but I'm definitely intrigued

You have to peel the edge trim back that goes around the door (2 seconds of a job as it's not fastened on with glue or screws), then you remove the interior panel on each side just above the catches. The passenger side is harder as you have to feed the heated glass wire through the hole.
Each panel is held on with 4 of those interior panel plastic clips, but mine did come off pretty easily.

Yeah the trim has to come off so you get at the brackets. I also got my adjustment instructions from an online PDF so chances are it's the same one, can't be that many floating about!lol. Once you get it off and you see what the brackets look like you'll have a better idea of what to do, it's pretty straight forward. Just loosen, adjust, tighten up and refit the hard top until you are happy with how it fits. One of the easier jobs to DIY on our cars thankfully!

these boys have pretty much answered it lol. yeah you pull the trim off.

My other issue is that the glass in my hardtop is not lined up perfectly, one side is a touch lower than the other at the rear. I only noticed it a 2 weeks ago when I put it on for winter. its not much but it needs moving by say 3mm to level it out....I may enquire at a windscreen place and see if they can remove and adjust it for me.

Hi all. Thanks for the advice, with the sun out today, I was finally able to tackle the roof. Took the trim off the car interior, certainly helped seat the spikes, but realised once I'd adjusted the roof, completely unnecessary.
Took the trim off the hard top, only loosened the bolts on the one side, roof slipped straight into place. All done up, tightened and trim back on......the heating elements still work fine too, which is great.
So much warmer with it on, took it for a drive and it's making a few rattles and creaks, but think that's pretty standard. Got one last drive with the roof down this morning going to get some shopping, (including a dehumidifier box thing for the car interior) so all in all, pretty good day
