Hmmm Mytse..... looks tasty! (read "expensive!)

What does that set you back - and does anyone have any pics of the "airbox insulation" technique????

Thanks

Yes, i have my eye on the ones in the FS thread - group buy. People there say that it doesnt always solve it.

Cheers

Lob-leg,

Are you're dealers nuts?! Its unlikely to cause any problems with it spinning out on a roundabout, as it goes as soon as you get a few secs of cool airflow. You wont be able to build any problem causing speed imo.

Tell them to plug in the diagnostic tool and watch the MAP voltage when its kangerooing.

Ive just recorded what it does in traffic on my wideband controller and will post up the MAP voltage soon, to demonstrate what happens.

AB - how does the thermostat help when its the inatke getting too hot? Confused by that. Did it solve it on yours?

DBM - i'm just playing devils advocate. I think it is quite possible to do if youre not being very cautious to avoid it (maybe mine is particularly bad or has something else wrong with it?) Apart from that it is just plain annoying - if i had bought the car from new, i would have taken it back (dont get me wrong - i do love my S but i believe that if you pay that much money, you shouldnt have to live with kangarooing - especially if it is relatively simple to fix)

The dealers have already replaced the MAP sensor - is this what youre getting at regarding the diagnostic?

Thanks for the reply. It is good to hear the stories from all angles.

No, there's a port under the dash which they can plug into and use their engine logger with. It sounds like it might not be best to suggest it if they haven't twigged yet though

It not really the fualt of the MAP, it just cant handle that much static heat. But if they watch its voltage when it starts jumping, they should see the effects of the hot air - voltage will be erratic.

If its really bad, some of the pointers above will greatly improve the problem. You just need to reduce the heat in the intake / engine bay really. Did you keep the spare MAP? Can I have it?

DBM - the thermostat and the thermo switch circulate the coolant and activated the fans sooner than the stock system does so keeps the engine running at a more constant temp - i guess this would reduce heat build up under the hood. Also the carbon fibre CAI is a great heat retardent.

With these mods, i have very rarely encountered heat bog and the few times it does happen is after a 6 hour hard drive. The car seems a lot smoother and happier with the mods.

DBM - thanks for that. I think they did do it but only when static - doh! Unfortunately they swapped the MAP for one in the showroom so i dont have the old one

AB - Carbon firbre CAI? whats that, and how much?

Thanks for the opinions guys!
