How old is the car?

What does the starter motor do?

Does is whirr with vigour or does it just click? Is it a Err Errr Err Err and no fire of engine? or a click click?

If you want to talk it over, let me know and I`ll PM my mobile to you. I`m sure you must be a bit concerned....

Very concerned. It's only 3 weeks old. When starting it just goes err, err, err as if it is going to tick over but never quite makes it.

That's a really unusual problem with a Honda. Could be a loose wire or cable, but if it's only 3 weeks old, surely it's a dealer call-out?

Oh, and welcome to the nuthouse. And your sister. Make sure she logs in sometime!

On phone to Adit now.

This is an immobilisation issue. The immobiliser thinks the relevant key is not in the dash. Maybe fuse related, getting him to check. Gonna try a trick with two keys.

Will update.....

a sad sad day.....

first of all..... I've got to say thanks to Colin, for his help......

Unfortunately, the car is going to be flat bed trailed to our local Honda garage (Tooting) tomorrow morning... AA HQ wanted to tow it now but the patrol guy persuaded them to do it tomorrow first thing( as the car would probably be on bricks in the morninig ).

Hopefully, they will fix it for the sunny weekend...if not, my sis has the joys of driving my Astra!

O Well.......What a way to formally intro myself!

I'll post any information the garage gives me tomorrow!

Adit.

Colin - my washing machine has started making a strange noise half way through the 40 deg wash cycle, sort of a Grrrrr Grrrrr noise - any chance of phoning me to sort it out?

PS. Hope they get your sister's car sorted quickly Adit. Not a great start to the S2000 experience.

I had a dud battery and it took months to diagnose. It would lose a charge in a week. The alarm would cop out and go off gratuitously. In the end the battery from my missus's Ka on substitution showed the flaw.

Battery. My guess. Get a fresh one from Honda on warrantee.

Nope. It definitely is not a battery fault. The engine is turning over comfortably, I `ve heard it and there are no alarms. I`ve had the battery fail on my S before and this is *not* the same. I said in the comment above its an immobilisation issue and that's what it is. The green key symbol is flashing on the dash, which means the inbuilt dash immobiliser is not happy with the inserted key.

Honda needs to look at this and not to provide a battery. Another battery would just mean new battery/same problem.
