Its just a standard UK car. So its got the factory alarm & imoboliser on it.

It couldn't be due to it getting overheated just sitting in the sunlight for a couple of very hot days could it?

Adit,
I would think there is an intermittent electronic fault which may (or may not) be heat related. You need to get Honda to look at it.

If this happens when you are out and about it could be an almighty PITA.

I would insist Honda don`t just look at it, but swap some circuitry similar to Dereks comment above.

Imagine....you`re in the ghetto.....you stall at the lights.....and that happens...... It does not bear thinking about.

(and in response to AE, I`ve told you, a doctor is needed for that, now stop ringing me - and if you want a women go and get one, we all had too otherwise carry on `making do`).

After its just be washed & waxed aswell - ready for the cruising to begin!

Adit & welcome.

Sorry to hear you're having such a horrid experience !

I would INSIST on Honda changing the immobizer circuit board, because you don't want the risk of it cutting out on you when (& if) you're in a dodgy area !

Good Luck !!

Bharat

PS - When are you changing that Astra for a car ???

Adit,

Sounds like exactly the same problem. If it doesn't start wait exactly 45 mins and try again. A bugger when you've just popped out for some milk!!!!

Get them to talk to Honda UK if they don't know what it is. They have some computer equipment that can check I'm sure as mine was just as intermittent.

Do not let it continue, it will trust me.

Del.

IIRC the valet key should still work - it has the transponder chip but the key won't be able to open the boot or armrest cubbyhole.

Nope definetly using the right key..... Ive had a very stressful day...after the last post....the AA rang to say they were giving the job to another company...again I reminded them that I need transportation on a flat bed....30mins later...a van arrives with a toes bar! After I reject that method of transportation, it took nearly 3 hours for a flatbed to turn up - well after the servicing dept had gone home.

I spoke to the sales manager (I think) and he wasn't too happy as we hadn't bought the car from them.... and started complaining how I should have taken the car to the dealer I bought it from -> (AA only takes the car to your closest garage NOT youre preferred one) and started saying Honda only pay a basic hourly rate to them for warranty work blah blah blah....in the end I said its a 3 week old Honda, you're a Honda garage...I dont care about the cost to yourself or Honda...just fix it!

Ive left a note with the car, to say I believe it to be the immobizer circuit board....and I don't want the car back first thing Monday morning just because it started first time!

Also, they weren't able to supply a curtesy car (although, they did say, if you had bought the car from us, we would try harder)....I tried calling Honda UK to complain and request a car whilst the S is off the road, but noone with authority is in until Monday...(& I want more than just a 1.4 Civic - no offence to civics, but hey you all have S's).

On a brighter note, hope you all were enjoying the rays with the roof down.

Adit.

I will only replace the Astra, once work takes it away from me or gives me a vast amount of money!

I would play hell to Honda about the attitude of that Sales Manager. Why does it matter where you bought the car from? and why do you care what Honda pay for warranty work?

I am sure you won't lose site of the fact you have just paid circa
