Default Propshaft difference?

Morning All,

I wonder if anyone would be able to confirm if the propshaft is common across all ages (of AP1) I've read somewhere the gearbox end is different pre/post facelift but really struggling to confirm?

Many thanks

I've got an 05 gearbox mated to an 01 prop. Can confirm they're the same.

Did the face lift cars that retained the AP1 engine keep the original gearbox, differential, and drive train? From Tom's note it appears they did.

I reckon so. From my little research, it seems the prop only changed over with the AP2. Presumably becuase of a different gear box interface

i think the gearbox had some tweaks inside but the matings all the same so any uk gearbox fits any uk car

same engine on all but later cars had gay electronic throttle and different breathers n stuff so different intake and cam cover

Both gearbox and diff flanges are different on AP2, they use M10 bolts instead of M8 on the AP1.

The predominate membership on this forum is in North America where 2004+ cars are commonly called AP2. With the differences in these cars in different markets it's important that new "face lift" (non-North American) owners don't think they have "AP2" cars and try to fit the wrong parts or modifications. Long time owners should have no difficulty and I expect UK and EU parts vendors won't stock "AP2" parts but there are many on-line vendors.
