If you look at the off side wing badge you will see that the gap between the honda badge and the S2000 badge below it is too large and different from the opposite wing.

The passenger side / Port Side / LHS / whatever wing badge has been stuck on later - on the driver's side, the HONDA is in line with the indicator, whereas on t'other side, it's S2000 that's inline....

I spent ages staring at this bit of the car when I de-badged mine

However.... Just because it has been resprayed, this should not put you off. I would be a lot more concerned if it was a back end re-spray as the more common accident damage to the S is to the rear wing / rear wheel and boot. It could just be that the owner has had the car re-sprayed to cover car park damage or a small scrape?

I know that mine has had a front wing re-spray as you can see where the paint has run but only if you know where to look

When I bought the car, there was an invoice in the secret compartment from the company that did the repair, so I know that the extent of the damage was minor (runaway wheelly bin or similar), resulting in a new wing (sprayed), a headlight cluster and a front bumper only. nothing showed up on the used approved honda check, or on the AA check that I paid to have done. After reading this forum, I was reluctant to trust the dealers further than I could throw them

So lets look at the facts

Replacement softtop to 02> glass rear screen
04 door cards/centre console/gear knob/radio door/wheels
Misaligned wing badges
Paint to the hardtop

You'll get a feel for the owner when you meet them, but for me it's either

A- A fastidious S2k nut, who's updated the parts over time or he's on first name terms with a local breaker/friend who spannered his 04

B - A spannered 2000 car thats had 04 bits bolted on in a bid to shift it on, a quick "how long you had it" will clear that one up though.

Good luck

If I were coming over from that distance i'd have a few cars in mind ideally, or go to S20004U maybe?

I know it's tricky logistically as you would have to get to see the cars and may need a hire car to do so, and then you can't get the hire car back, then it costs extra money bla bla bla.

I sold mine for 10k and had 50k miles on it and some nice extra's so i'd not rush into it...

Personally I'd arrange to view a few (3/4) cars to see before coming over and make a full day of it, then pick the one you like best and get AA/RAC check back in the comfort of your own home.... just a thought!

Don't think this is the only car for sale if you are coming over keep your options open and view a selection of cars before making a decision. This will help you get a feel for the car and give you an idea of what to expect.

Don't let your enthusiasm run away with you or it could just run away with your wallet, if you buy a dog you will regret it.

He still doesn't seem to have answered the question about the respray, has he given a reason for the paintwork?

If that car's not been through a hedge I'll bbq my arse and eat it.

Surely nobody expects a kosher car with all those (relatively expensive) add ons for sub
