Default Radio Issues - Alpine HU - No sound!

Hi all,

Having a nightmare trying to get my Alpine UTE-200BT to work.

Firstly, i'd bought a second hand modifry PnP harness and DCI on ebay. Plugged everything in, thought the connection to the radio was tight, but got it in. Switched on, crackle, smoke pop. Oh ****.

Turned off unplugged, fuse on radio and car blew, replaced. Checked with the very helpful Bob at modifry, turned out I had a Kenwood connector, but said if I spliced the Alpine connector in it should be ok.

Did this, plugged back in, switches on, DCI works, but no sound. I'm going crazy trying to figure it out and wondered if anyone can shed any light. I've attached a crappy wiring diagram. Also, anyone know if this fuse looking thing is standard on the OEM harness?

I'm wondering if the amp on the radio blew? Not sure how I can check :/

Tempted to order a new radio and see if it works.

You checked you don't have mute enabled?

And if you take out the modrify and connect the Alpiine unit directly to the car - still no sound?

Yep, I agree. I plugged in the OEM just now, speakers still work.

Plugged the spliced harness in again, still no sound but got power. Put a positive multimeter cable into speaker connection coming out of the new HU, 5.68v for all except one which was 12.6v. So signal is definitely coming out.

Was DC or AC voltage?
If you got that much DC going to the speakers then for sure the HU is blown, that is not good for your speakers.
