Default rattle rattle buzz buzz

After a weeend of non-usage and running out of fuel this morning...

At tickover there seems to be a small rattle coming from under(?) the engine/gearbox. It returns at a few points further up the rev range and gets really buzzy at high revs. Something's got to be loose .

I'm taking the car in to my local grease monkey in the morning but any ideas/ suggestions would be helpful.

Yup, favorite ever book. I'm a big fan

I took the airbox cover off a few days ago. Maybe I forgot to ake out one of the catches...

But thanks anyway guys. At least there doesn't seem to be a major issue.

Fingers crossed I'll find out tomorrow.

Well.

Finally got the car to my local garage today and it looks like bad news.

As soon as the car went up on the ramp, it was obvious where the rattle was coming from:

INSIDE the gearbox

Had the super-reliable Honda for two months now and 2K miles. Great...

I'll have to take it to my local dealer(Phoenix Honda, Linwood) to get it looked at. With no warranty and being in the process of having new windows installed and a new kitchen done I fear the car may have to come off the road for a bit.

Any suggestions/ ideas/ similar experiences/ words of encouragement would be much appreciated.

It's pretty noisey RedUn. Sounds like something is loose inside the 'box.

Could be anything I suppose like a broken tooth or something but whatever it is, it can't be doing any good in there...

And I don't suppose Honda are going to be too keen to strip it down for me as a freebie so it might be easier(!) to put a new 'box in. Dunno but I should find out for sure on Monday.
