Default Rays wheels -help please!

Hi guys, yes it's another wheels question!

Jus after some input on what tyre sizes to run before I take the plunge!

I've just refurbished some 17" TOMS C7R split rims made by RAYS (will add photo's later!)
fronts 8", rears 9"

Basically the offsets are a bit on the agressive side, I've read the fitting guides and the rears should be fine I think (+49), the fronts *may* need a little machining off the centre, they're (+44) which protrudes 4mm more than recommended in the wheels and tyre guide.

Could I get a 205 profile tyre on an 8" rim to maximise clearance or would I have to go to 215...?

What tyre sizes should I be lookin at here, 205/40/17F, 245/35/17R or otherwise?

Thanks!
David

On 8" you could comfortably go to 225.

If I recall correctly it's thought you can go one size up/down on standard fitment without too much hassle, so the fronts could be 205's (or 225) but that may leave the rims very open to kerbing.?

I wouldn't put a 205 on an 8" rim; even a 215/45 will look stretched.

On the rear fit either a 245/40 or 255/40, both are likely to rub a little on a 9" +49 rim if your S is lowered.

Chris.

I know a 215 is the obvious choice to put on the fronts but I'm just thinking about arch clearance, the skinnier tyre would obviously give more room when the suspension is under load. Tha car isn't lowered so I don't think rubbing will be an issue unless I do decide to lowr the car in the future
Cheers guys,

I'll take the advice on board and go with 215's, I'll report back with the results!

I have just fitted the exact same wheels to my 's' and im lowered on eibach pro-kit. They have the same offsets you have mentioned with 225-45-17 front and 245-40-17 on the rear.NO RUBBING whatsoever. Although if i were lowered anymore i would need a slight arch roll in the rear but nothing too major. I will however switch my tyres to 205 or 215 in the front just to make sure i dont have any problems when my bilstein coilovers are fitted, but judging by the way the wheels sit at the minute i dont think il have any problems.

As for vredestein ultrac sessanta-By far the best tyre i have tested, and i have been through a variety of tyres in the past due to owning a tyre centre(cant beat trade price!!!!!).

Both wet and dry grip is phenomenal(after break-in period-usually a few hundred miles).

Trust me and try them-you wont be disappointed!!!!

I dont think you will be able to get 245 35 17 in ultrac sessanta. This tyre size is only made by a few manufacturers.Your options on this size will be falken 452 or 912, hankook and toyo t-1r.

I would personally go for the falken 452 as its cheaper than the alternatives and just as good.
