Did it last year with regular syn grease, FFS how hot does a gear lever shifter get? It made massive improvement and still feels perfect.

I did it last weekend, parts from Honda £18 and I used normal high temp grease. Works fine and all in all took approx 1 hour. Also recently did the clutch fork ball joint sanding and regrease mod, which takes about 1.5 hours and that made a huge difference in clutch pedal feel.

Same grease as I've been using and after 7 years it's still what I use for this.

I've had a quick search for this bronze replacement but can't find anything - any chance you could post a link?? Thanks

I used Starbrite marine trailer bearing grease - it has a dropping point similar to most "normal" greases of about 180C ( NLGI #2 ) - if my knob gets that hot them I'm in a whole lot of other trouble

I'm guessing something like this for the metal collar https://www.rhdjapan.com/car-garage-...r-ap1-ap2.html and there's a short article on it here https://thes2kandtheant.com/tag/s2000-shifter-collar/ that suggests it doesn't make that much of a difference (plus has the relevant Honda P/N for the other bits)

For the clutch slave "nipple" just grind it off with a dremel, then mount it in a drill and use course then fine valve grinding paste, I did mine this way and it ended up with a mirror finish without much effort.

I have a "Seeker Super Shift Collar" fitted. There are a lot of other options by now - but I can't comment on the tolerance/fitment of others. The "Car Garage Amis Shifter Collar" in the link looks to be much more heavily slotted than my memory of the Seeker. The Seeker was a real pain to install - it did kept cockling over rather than aligning. I had a C's short shifter in my first S2000 which was very nice, but I prefer the standard throw with the improved precision of the Seeker on a standard shifter. Other things can and do come into play as well - for example condition of the engine/gearbox mounts, or how old the gearbox oil is. If there is a lot of play in the mounts, or poor/wrong gearbox oil then then shift bushing won't be as obvious.

Just did this today to my 08 with 51k miles. Shifts feel so much better now and it only took about 45 minutes. I'm pretty rubbish with working on cars but this was so easy!
