Default Rear pads - uneven wear

Having fitted new (old) rear pads at lunchtime yesterday at Donington, I now find that on one side (driver's) I'm now down to the metal whilst the other is hardly worn at all. Is there a sensible explanation for this?

As I'm having an oils change/MOT done tomorrow, I'll get Crown to take a look. Do dealers ordinarily carry S2000 pads in stock?

Johnsons in MK had a few sets in stock when I nipped in on Friday.

I'd not worry unless it does it with the new (new) pads. But ask Jorge to check that both calipers are working properly. Tell him I will be in for my service soon!

If you didn't line them up with the cross on the caliper piston properly, then you might expect that one to wear pretty quick.

Or there's a lot of air in one side...

A caliper could be siezed.

When you say down to the metal on one side, do you mean on a caliper on one side of the car or an individual pad on a caliper?

Well, I can only see the outer edge of the driver's side. No pad left there, not sure about the other pad on the 'inside of the car.

The passenger wheel seems fine, plenty of pad left there. I went through several millimetres of pad in 2 or 3 sessions essentially. Something ain't right but I'm sure Jorge can identify the problem.

Thanks all.

How long have the pads been on the car? Did they get bedded in properly, or did they get hammered on the track fairly soon after fitting?

I've had problems in the past with one pad on one side of the car wearing far more rapidly than the others when the pads haven't been bedded in and gassed off properly. The pad just became crumbly and fell apart while the others weren't so bad.

I fitted new pads and let them bed in properly and everything's been fine.

They were pads that had been part used but were given a good hammering from the off on Saturday, which is probably the root cause

Off to Crown now, who have pads in stock so hopefully all sorted soon.

Thanks all
