Default Rear windows

This is probably embarrasing but as I have only had my S2k since July...how the "beep" do you demist the rear window???? It is the glass type and definately has the heating lines across it.

I've pressed and turned every knob and dial and aside from blasting my stereo and switching on the air conditioning in 0 Degrees C I can't work it out.

If you can attempt to reply whilst laughing your head off I'd be eternally grateful.

Rob

Rob, the rear screen heater is by your left elbow on the console between the seats.

There's a demister switch just behind the gear knob on the centre console bit .

robsta I think your question, and the quality answers really reflects how helpful peeps are on the forum, and how there is no boundaries to how simple or complicated a question can be asked without fear.

You so easily could have been slated, and in many forums probably would, for asking something like this.

(however......... )

Rob

when you fit a hard top you have to plug the rear demist into a socket behind the passenger seat (next to the roll hoop) it may be worth checking that there is nothing in the socket (pull the rubber cap off). As I think, if the socket is connected it will prevent the heated screen in the soft top from operating.

Although I could be talking my usual rubbish...but worth checking if the button between the seats does not work.

If that is not the answer get it checked by the dealer

Regards

JohnB

The reason that people don't get slated for asking what may appear to be a "daft" question is that:

a: we've all asked our quota of daft questions, I defy anybody to say they haven't
b: we don't want to get slated for having a pop at somebody, when the answer is actually quite complicated. Witness JohnB's answer, I would never have thought of that.
c: we're actually nice people

I did think this was testimony to the mature civility which is engendered in the British psyche, but then I had a look at Off-Topic!

Question

Hi Guys

Excuse me reviving this old thread and again asking a dims**t newbie question!!

I've only had my MY02 S2k for a short while and like Robsta have a problem identifying the heated rear window switch.

My car is a GT model (but I don't have a hardtop) so it has wiring for a hardtop and also has a glass rear soft top window.

The handbook makes no reference to the heated rear screen or associated switches and the service manual that I have is of no help.

I have attached a couple of pictures that hopefully will help explain my problems.

&

I've got a couple of difficulties.

Firstly, I cannot seem to identify which switch operates the soft top heated rear screen. You can see that someone has gashed up a tatty red rocker switch into a switch blanking plate (See top picture above). I'm guessing that this is not how it left Honda? If this is meant to be the HRW switch what should the proper one look like & where can I get one?

If this isn't the switch for the HRW which one is it? The switch next to the red rocker on the centre console doesn't seem to do anything. I assume it is for the headlamp washers? (See top picture above)

However, this switch seems to be replicated on the dashboard behind the wiper stalk. (See bottom picture above). Again this switch does not seem to do anything!

So I've got an unidentified red rocker switch which doesn't seem to do anything and apparently two headlamp washer switches which also appear to be inoperative. Oh and no working heated rear window!

If anyone can give some advice I would be really grateful.

I must get rid of the rocker switch. It looks awful and catches my arm on the centre console.

Thanks

Graham

It should be the switch by the gear stick which has had the headlight washer switch put there, I'd investigate that one first.

Graham - I've got a GT, and agree with the guys when they say that the 'alternative' headlamp washer button should be where the rear window demister button should be. As for the red rocker switch, I've just got a blank in it's place.

Hope this helps!
