Follow up to moor deybe's points.

I checked the Honda site, got my 'product update' letter by e-mail and called my Honda dealer so happily did the work at the same time as my 9000 mile service.

I didn't get any notification of additional warranty on the engine, and there was no indication that it was urgent work.

I'd cut through the bureaucracy a bit and use the Honda website to verify whether you need the work doing. recall link

I checked the database and got a letter saying that I needed both done but I checked with Verhagen and was told that they had been done. I checked the vin plate on the bulk head for the centre punch mark and found it.

Not bothered about it at all - will probably get it done when I get the first service in June.

Trying to rack up another 5000 miles before June!!!!!

I've sourced an unregistered S2000 (late '02) which I'm going to purchase in the next fortnight or so. I've asked the dealer if the modifications have been done to this car and he assured me that they were applied at the factory. Is there any way for me to tell whether or not the changes have been made from looking at the documentation? I recall somewhere in another thread someone posting that once the modifications have been done a yellow sticker (?) is put in the logbook to signify this.

Anyone able to verify this? If so, what does the sticker look like and what does it say? Lastly, anyone able to confirm that the sticker also applies to cars which have been modded at the factory as opposed to after sale dealer mod?

Thanks in advance.

I have a late '02 and no, you cannot expect any sticker to prove anything. The dealer told me that October onwards cars do not have any recall problems as all faults are addressed during manufacture. I have contacted Honda UK who also confirmed same.

You should have received a HondaCare document (couple of pieces of paper) within a few days of having the work done, stating that you have an extra years warranty on the engine starting from when your existing warranty expires. You may need to prompt the dealer if its not arrived within a reasonable time.
