Default Recommend Front Replacement Speakers

Can anyone recommend some drop in replacements for the front speakers. I tried some Alpine 6.5" but they were to big.
What is the maximum size that will drop in with minimum alterations? I do not mind having to cut basket but would rather not.
Thanks
Anthony

Depth and profile are the issue with 6.5" or 160mm designs.
The standard maximum mounting depth is 48mm with the magnet diameter being less than 70mm.
If you cut the back out you can go as deep as 65-70mm before hitting the window!

Most speakers that fit without mods are only slightly better than the standard units so be wary.
Apparently Sony 1621s are pretty good for drop in replacements.

I have Infinity Kappas (62.1i old model now). These were great with the standard head unit. They require you to make a new surround. I can email you the template if you go down that route. I used off cuts of UPVC facia board to make them. Takes about an hour to make a pair.

I just upgraded my Accord front speakers to Infinity Reference 652i. They are 4.5mm too deep for the S2000 basket but I noticed that some of the American owners have fitted these in their S2000s by cutting the back of the basket out. The advantage with the Infinitys are that they are readily available (Halfords) cheapish (

just go to Handaaccessories.com and go with the pioneer upgrade speakers, they are cheap in price and sounds good.
unless you want to go to a higher end model.

AFAIK I'm the only UK owner with the official Honda UK front speaker upgrade. These are 3 way Pioneer's. A big improvement over stock. I was charged

I agree with Paul (whose templates are superb BTW) and fitted Infinity Kappa 62.1s to my S2000. They do sound great even with the stock headunit and will also work well with upgraded stereos. A set of those and Lucid's panels with speakers should sort you out.

I had a similar problem with the Accord speaker upgrade that I just did.
I could not source any speaker adapter leads for HONDA connectors.
In the end I desoldered the receptacle from the back of the old Honda speakers, drilled out the rivot and then fixed (soldered and glued) the receptacle to the back of my new speakers ensuring the correct polarity. (There is a small + and - sign moulded into the speaker connectors on the stock speakers. I also double checked with the wiring diagram).

This method has the disadvantage that you can't put the old speakers back in when you sell the car but the wiring and warranty is still in tact.

I put Kenwood dual mag 6.5 inchers in the door, they drop in no cutting and can handle 150 Watts +. THey sound great, I made a vracket to hold the tweeter in ront of teh speaker slightly so I would not have to cut the panel. Well worth the $275 retail price.

I sourced my speaker adaptors from here:

Speaker lead adaptors

The PC2-825 adaptors fit the S2000 and they'll set you back
