What's the best oil for a 2 way diff?

It will be fitted next weekend so since I'm there i may as well change the oil.

do I use standard diff oil or do i need something else as it is uprated

Thanks in advance

When you say 2-way diff, I assume you are replacing the Torsen with another type of LSD?

I would use the oil recommended by the LSD manufacturer.

Chris.

yes one that is on it's way out and locks like a 2 way LSD

but it's very hard i think most LSD's don't even have markings on them.

Are you still driving the Evo? With the way the fuel price is at the moment, it must be expensive to take it out

SAF-XJ is a good LSD oil Ebay link

not cheap but it's what we use in the top end racing Jaguars where the diffs can run at 150 degrees plus.

ebay link is just a reference i don't know if you can get it cheaper anywhere else (we retail it at £25 a litre)

plated diffs need to be tight and should be checked for breaking torque (the static torque at which the plates slip) before fitting to the car in case it needs rebuilding

for a road car it is usually around 60 to 70 FtLbs, for a track car you can go a little higher but for drifting you would probaby need 110 FtLbs+

but it also depends on the ramp angles to how much the plates grip under load.
