Default Remote range

A minor gripe that's been a little worse of late.

The range used to be good (well OK) but recently it's been somewhat shorter and have to blip the fob within a close-ish range to the car. However, sometimes it works at a reasonable range.

Batteries in both fobs new 16 months ago, and the problem is with both I think.

Any reasons for why it's happening and any fixes? As I say, not a major issue as it always opens ok and have no other problems with the remote at all.

remote is standard 2 fob alarm (honda) thing that most UK cars have.

True, but i found the range on the old two button was pants after 6 months (daily drive) just get some more batteries. decent brands last longer and have better ranges to cheepy batteries.

Edit: IIRC honda recomend changing every 12 months (but they would wouldn't they)

There's a guy on fleabay who does new kits.. everything except the electronics

I bought one and it's amazing how worn the old remotes get when you compare them to a nice new one!!

You can buy re placement cases for the fobs direct from the alarm manufacturer for about 5 quid delivered. I bought one a little while ago. Doesn't improve the range though. I mentioned to the lady on the phone about the guy on E bay and she said that he buys in bulk from them and sells them on at 3 times the price.

My range is rubbish too But I'm not that fussed. What is annoying is the remote boot release which, if you don't press the button again in the right 2 second gap, means crawling in the car to press the stupidly-placed button, or risk scratching your boot as your fumble with the keys and whatever boxes/bags you are carrying!!
