Removing Engine
Just thinking which would be the easiest for a billy no mates like me
Do I split the engine/box in situ,or lift the car make it safe and drop the whole lot on the floor(engine and box that is)I have a 2 tonne engine lift so I will be able to lower gently rather than drop the engine/box.
The way that I see it is that I can drop the combo and split them on the floor.Plus I was thinking of having the subframe seam welded and powder coated anyway.
Its not really a problem pulling the motor up and out, but it seems to me to be a tidier way of doing it, dropping the whole lot on the floor and splitting it then...unless there is something really big I havent thought about.I will be removing both manifolds, altenator, aircon pump.As the engine is to be sold these will have to come off anyway.
Any advice please
Thanks

You are right it does look mean but not very practical ,I think dropping the engine is the way to go,
Razz has done a bit withS2s. I'll see what he thinks...being a lot older and possibly wiser than me.
while i havent done so, i'd also go with dropping it.
saves trying to split the gearbox and engine and then removing it - so much easier when you can get around it properly.
it might be worth considering a clutch change aswell since you've got it out...edit: - oh, your selling it

I don't think you'll be able to drop it yourself (its really a 2 man job - one to lower and the other to check for anything catching), its a difficult job and I don't see you safely raising it high enough in that garage, it would be much easier if you had a ramp and gearbox jack to make sure everything comes out in the right angle (or you'll start bumping things and breaking things.
If you can get the extra mate, then you'll need to start with dropping the diff and removing the propshaft then work your way around the gearbox and engine bay to remove the harness and lines.
Watch out for gearbox oil when you remove the prop - not sure if these are sealed units as I can't remember the last time I removed the box was in February :/
