On the plus side the nurse that stitched it back together was pretty fit.
I've had far too many stitches already this year so I'll try to avoid the need for a further trip to A&E!

Are replacement sponge bases available from Honda? Or for that matter, leather base covers?

I can't see any point in replacing the foam - the repair completely fixes it and it's as good as new.

I'm sure I've seen £300 quoted on one thread I read earlier in the week. Let's face it, it will always be cheaper to buy a secondhand seat off ebay than buy replacement parts from Honda.

It's all down to how people exit the car - Guiness has the cure for it but if it's already worn ..... you can do this in your lounge in the warmth and it really is easy

If you don't mind waiting or want to see it done, we've got to do Simons ( Lovegroova) soon and don't mind doing another one at the same time

Like the idea of the poundland sponges. If the price is right, may get a truck load as I've always wanted a padded wall.

And the lower bolster price is ......

PFKL883294PAD & FRAME COMP., R. FR. SEAT CUSHION £486.02

The new leather cover would be £1335

Now if you bought that in America ....

681131-S2A-A11ZFCOVER, FR. SEAT CUSHION TRIM *NH167RED* $684.85 7
81132-S2A-003PAD & FRAME, R. FR. SEAT CUSHIONJPN1 $226.10

Poundland wins every time

Just did this job on 2 seats. A few tips -

- One one thread I read the person goes through a procedure of taking the whole seat apart - back and bottom. Once the seat is out of the car all you have to do is remove the bottom (4 bolts - 2 on the bottom and 2 on the sides) and remove the seat belt sensor wire from the clips in the metal base. No need to remove the back from the frame.

- You don't need to remove the cover completely as shown in the pics above. JUST remove all the hog rings on the under side of the seat and peel back the cover.

- It's more than fine to replace those bottom hog rings with zip ties - just use heavy duty ones. They're not really under tension anyway. You just don't want to use thin ones that the seat base may cut through over time.

- Don't use sponges. You can get a big piece of real high density foam at any big craft store for $5-10.
