Default Replacing Front Shocks

HI Guys,

I have discovered the beginnings of a leak from the front nearside shock on MY01 and am obviously looking to change it before its MOT in August.

My question is if I fit a pair of front shocks from a MY05 will it affect the ride quality of the car, as I understand the springs of the MY05 are softer than the MY01.

I do not intend changing the rears.

Cheers

Ride comfort will be improved!

The change will result in a slightly odd setup however, so I'd stick your springs on the newer shocks.

I've got a pair of Koni yellow front shocks that will fit if you're interested?

My05 front springs are harder than my01 not softer. The shocks will be matched to the springs too.

I did have 05 one's on my 1999 and they help tame the rear of the car.

Search for something along the lines of ' characterisation of oem suspension' on Google and you will see the different spring rates over the years.

Here's a link to the page I was on about, I was using my phone earlier so I couldn't put a link to the page.

I liked the 05 springs and shocks on the front of my 1999, I only took them off as I've replaced everything with CR suspension.

Well I never - would've thought they would be softer.

The shocks are the same though - the part numbers are the same.

51605-S2A-A05 and 51606-S2A-A05 for the 2001.

51605-S2A-A08 and 51606-S2A-A08 for the 2005.

Similar, but different.
