Default Rev limiter

Found out this morning that on my JDM they have not removed the limiter! Very quiet on my way into work this morning, no one around on the Motorway so I gave it a good blast. I thought at first it was the Map sensor but I don't belive it is as it kicks in at around the 112 to 115 area.

shall I have it removed? I would like to but thinking more about it, its there for safety reasons I suppose. Any one know how its done? Is it a new ECU job?

My main concern is when you do hit it I believe it cuts the fuel, not good for the engine I suppose.

Comments please.

Have a look on here http://www.tdi-plc.com/HondaS2000.html about 100 quid should remove the limiter.

I had mine done the day I collected the car. Its a mod of some sort, its very straightforward.

Find your nearest Jap importer as they do them all the time with Subarus and Skyline GTR's

The price will vary I think from about

Don't worry, this is normal behaviour for Berlina Black

If you are travelling at that speed (eg in Germany ) with someone behind you, having the speed limiter kick in could be very unsafe.

Does no harm to the engine whatsoever cutting the fuel. You do it every time you lift off the throttle. It's a fuel injection car not carburettor.

If you're in gear and lift the momentum of the car turns the engine so the ecu cuts the fuel completely. It only supplies fuel if you put it in neutral where the engine has to power itself to prevent stalling.

We do what we call a friction loss test at work which does exacly this (Fuel/Ignition off and engine turned by the dyno). We do it on an audit basis and that engine is then sold to customers. We wouldn't do it if it did any harm
