Roads
For the Moors:
We've done the Helmsley to Stokesley B1257 a few times it's a great road and a fave with the bikers!
Then you get to go down Blakey Ridge which is a mad drive in places. The views are superb :-)

Couple of weeks ago, I had the day to myself so jumped in the car for a little jaunt down the coast. Ended up heading up to Kielder instead and kept on going until you pass through Kielder village where it becomes a nice single track road with passing places and plenty 2nd gear point and squirt sections. Took a right onto the B6357 where I was the only car for a fair few miles. Then took a left onto the A6088 up to Hawick then onto the A698 to Coldstream then somehow picked up the Roman Road to Rothbury. Then headed home (West Allotment) via Tynemouth as it was sunny and scantily clad girls were out and about. Canny few miles, and plenty smiles per gallon. So much for my 20 minute drive! That's why I love the north east so much.

"and scantily clad girls were out and about" - though that happened regardless of season/weather
(Spent some time at Spadeadam so know nights out in the North East....)
(more beer than wine though !)
Re roads - I've often done the 'Jedburgh road' (from Edinburgh down to where it joins the A1) - lovely road up over the border and then past Kielder water. Watch out for the cameras and in the summer, loony bikers overtaking all over the shop !
If you are up in the REAL North - try my local road - the B9007 - epic!

Come to sunny Scotland (before the wall goes up) A82, A832, A93............... etc, etc. Depends what you like really. If you are feeling brave on the twisties then the Bealach na Ba over to Applecross takes you to the edge. I think mat-i had some pics on here a while back of the Torridon area. The west coast for me is the best, but I was on some amaizing roads earlier in the year from Pitlochry over and up to Breamar. The local wildlife seemed to enjoy the sounds of the Berk Decat.
