Default S2000 engine in a mk2 escort

Hi there my da is puttin a s2000 engine in his mk2 escort rally car. he intends to run it on ITBs and map it on Hondata, aslo he would like to use his sequintial(sp) gearbox.if you have any advice on wat his would need to use from the s2000 as he has a full car sitting.someone told him he would need to keep the clocks and a load of the wiring.again if you have any advice on more performance upgrades or wat he actually does need to keep id be very grateful.
thanks

I was chatting to a guy the other week running a Mk2 Escort rally car and he was tempted by the same thing. Would make a great conversion. Good luck!

There isn't a Hondata that will directly work with the F20C but depending on how much work your father intends to put in it is certainly possible. Might be easier to use an AEM EMS though. This is a plug'n'tune ECU for the F20C so you would maintain the existing harness and all sensors.

Not sure what you mean by clocks. Are you refering to the instrument cluster? May be easiest to use the stock gauge cluster but as it's a rally car I'm not sure if you intend to register it so maybe one of the Gauge-tech LCD displays or some traditional gauges would be better.

Christ there's some philistines on this site

Superb idea, I'd be very surprised if it hasn't been done before, might be better off asking on an Escort/Rally car forum if such a thing exists??

If he's planning on using ITB's then he sdhould get a good 3D mapable ecu. DTA Fast are the only ones I know of that can handle VTEC requirments.

He may also have a problem with the gear box 'cause not many are designed to run with the load/revs that a modded F20 would produce. I would advise him to use the CTR/ITR engine as it is more flexible and will be a better fit, providing he can source a good bell housing.

Yes admittedly however the power delivery i.e. all above 5800rpm coupled with lack of low down torque isn't exactly conducive to a successful rally car set-up is it? I am sure it will be fun though.
