Juan,
Did the Emerald support the VTEC function or was the car run in VTEC all the time?
There are a couple of Westies that run the F20C, but the engine being so tall compromises the ride height and centre of gravity.

To get around the height issues you have to dry sump it (which I would do in ANY caterfield anyway). It will fit under the bonnet of a SEIW without compromising ride height this way. Though significant chassis mods are required to do it. Believe me, the car that has one in goes as well, if not better than most Caterfields out there.
Though to be fair, if I was doing one from scratch now, I'd probably go duratec as it's easier. But the attraction of a stock F20C in one already built is very high. Especially from someone whose blown up a YB in the past. The ability to grab another engine and just drop it in there, rather than having to rebuild a bespoke lump is exceptionally desirable...

This thread's bringing back memories of my two Mk 1 Escorts, and I wanted a turbo YB lump in one of them, but being a student meant it couldn't happen.
As said before there are a few seven type cars with this conversion, it might be worth looking at how they have done it. At the end of the day almost anything possible with time and money.

I doubt any performance upgrades would be necessary on the F20C in a MkII Escort. The car weighs bugger all, and I'd assume the car would be stripped out.
It's an ultra-reliable engine that will rev to 9krpm all day every day. I can't think of a single thing the engine neeeds but doesn't have. Do the conversion, enjoy, and post pics/video.

Honda ecu is not happy about the dash not being there.
I really don't like the LCD dash in the S2000, would hate it in an old ford.
Duratec engines seem quite expensive to bring up to an rleiable and driveable 200+ BHP spec. (Compared to buying an F20C, gear box and loom from a scrapper anyway)

Really, any idea what it takes exception to?

True a F20C is going to be cheaper than a 240bhp Duratec. Though the Duratec would be *much* simpler to get in there as all the bits now exist off the shelf to do it. It fits in the chassis so there is no buggering about there and mates to a type-9. Indeed with Caterham and Westfield both now using Duratecs you can just buy the kits straight from them.
The reason the F20C will never enjoy this situation is that it's just not common enough on our roads for 2nd hand lumps and Honda want a fortune for new ones. FWIW BLiNK Motorsport have been dropping a K20A into a caterham for a while, it should be done anytime I would have thought. It'll be interesting to see how that goes.

Cheers Juansolo, that is really appreciated I will check out the site tonight.
I agree fitting the more common conversions is far simpler as there are usually fitting kits available.
The lure of the F20C for me is the fact I will never be able to build a decent BDA, people want a fortune for a knackered lump.
Thanks for the advice and the link, most appreciated.

Lots of information here from Dave who built that S2K Westfield. Apparently it needs to be connected to the dash and the steering rack. I have a lot more pictures of the build showing the chassis and gearbox mods required to get it to fit under a standard bonnet if you want me to post them.

However, I have been speaking with BLINK in the hope that their K20 Carterham goes well, 'cause this would be a good option . I'm already saving for this, even if SWMBO doesn't know.
I would love to see Dave's car in action, it must be well quick.
