Very expensive!

A well looked after, enthusiast owned car will be cheaper and still very well looked after

It's with a main dealer, of course it's too expensive...

Without meaning to sound rude - why are you so set on buying this particular car?

You have asked for advice, everyone has replied advising it is too expensive and yet you continue to pursue this car.

Ultimately it is your money but unless the dealer drops at least another £1,200 off the current price of £7,770 then walk away, take your time and find one that is better value for money.

Very expensive.

I just paid £5100 for a 53 plate GT with 73k miles.

You are never going to buy an inexpensive car from a dealer. IMO if you buy a 2002 for any more than around the £6k mark you would be crazy. Mileage is really one of the last things I would look at when buying an S2000. You seem to be making it your priority?

Via a dealer?

Some will say get a lower mile well looked after one over a higher mile one that's a facelift

Its all down to you

Personally I would look for a facelift for that money, mainly as I have had 2 pre 04 (03 is better than the 00)

If you can get it for 7, with that miles and if its properly stamped up then that might be a good buy but only because of it miles, better if one owner.

How can you all say very expensive... its a touch much yes for the age but the very low milage and desireable colors... also main dealer with warranty.

Depends if you want facelift or not. its high yes but not unjustifiably so...

Bear in mind the warranty is very very limited to 1k max claim and its 699 for 3 years so dont worry about that too much if you get a private one.

with everyone above apart from whenever I have pruchased a car from a dealer I always tell them how much I would buy the car for and then tell them to contact me if they want to sell it.

So for your car... offer them £6,500 (or something a lot less than £7,700) and tell them to call you when they are happy to sell it. Otherwise walk away.

I got my 2002 from a dealer in London three years ago for £7,000 simply by doing the above. Can't remember how much he wanted.

Good luck. Keep looking...

EDIT: If you pruchase a car from a dealer it LEGALLY has to come with a 3 month warranty.
