Default S2000 questions

Is a 2005, with 77000 miles on the clock too many for it's age?

I am thinking of buying one soon. It is silverstone metallic gt, with red and black leather .

Hope you guys can share your views.

I'll rather have a high mileage car that's well looked after, rather than a low mileage car that's been thrashed.

Make sure you have service documents, but saying that many owners have service their own car and don't have proof.

77k on the S2000 is nothing, the engine is just beginning to tick.

Hi mate,

It has a whole folder over services every. 9000 miles , well looked after.

I take it these engines go forever then?

I am using it as a weekend car only so 4000 a year tops.

The owner keeps saying it will be a collectors item one day ?

The engines do not go on forever - a fair few have failed, spontaneously, dramatically, and without known cause in some cases, others haven't.

I think the next couple of years will determine the trend one way or another.

An 05 at that price is typical of market conditions - I'd want to have a very thorough look at it beforehand though.

Also look into the geo/alignment/tracking bushes - the bolts seize if not greased - I'd want hard proof that they have been tended to and definitely wouldn't take someone's word for it.

Seams like you don't know much about S2000.

Yes the S2000 will be a classic, and Honda engine will go on forever if looked after.

Really?
Yes.

Dembo, PaulF (x2), AquilaEagle, plus many others... thats not even taking into account the MY09s either...

The Yanks have demonstrated that the engines can do a couple of thousand miles if correctly looked after, but saying they go on forever is, in my opinion, an inaccurate claim; preventative maintenance will only achieve so much too.

ATEOTD though, we buy cars like these to drive and deal with the consequences of failure if/when it occurs.
