Straight line racing is boing as hell, I used to own a 240bhp astra coupe turbo that used to see off scoobs, but it was boring as hell, the best buzz I got was on the twisty stuff, which most front wheel cars just cant do. So flogged the astra and got an S which is fast enough in a straight line, (If you know how ) but sees off everything on the twisty roads.
So If your that bothered sell it, or buy a super charger
Had people all over me in Clio sports and the like when I was trying as hard as possible. That said we went head to head against a Ferrari 355 coming out of le mans toll both and he only just got us - we spoke later he was trying and was gutted he wasnt miles ahead!
Come on, everyones had a few runs against their mates on dual carriageways and the like - weve all been over 70 right?

grins/mile factor - s2000 hands down!
I've just come from a 320hp BMW M Roadster, and to be honest when the S is in the VTech, it doesn't feel too far off the pace. Over x-country, the S would eat it alive and you'd have a damn sight more fun doing it also.
I bet it's a similar story with the mini.
Thought I recognised your name from Zroadster.net i came from a VX220 NA which seemed fairly similar to the S2k, prior to that I had an M Roadster which was probably quicker in a straight line but not so much fun.

Both cars have similar horsepower so its no surprise you're only a little bit faster.
I did some "scientific" comparisons based on data from track challenge.com where I converted the incremental times of various cars into distances travelled in that time.
For example, below is a comparison of an E39 M5, an E46 M3 and a 3.0i Z4 with SMG against an S2000, over a 15 second time period (roughly a quarter of a mile). The M3 pulls out a 50m lead, the M5 40m and the Z4 is just behind.
40 or 50m does not look that much from the seat of a car.
Nice work.
Can you do one for an 111R vs a Z4M Roadster.
I had a play with one today and was quicker than him up to the speeds we went (and had to slow to avoid being up his chuff on a corner).
I suspect the advantage would have been lost as speeds increased >70/80 mph but would be nice to see.

Thrown in the S2000 as well out of interest.
Unfortunately not. Track-challenge is no more.
Here's the base data I collected for a few cars from which the calculation can be done. There is a 2004 Exige in there, which may be similar, although I don't really know which Lotus is which, it's nearly as confusing as all the Subarus and Evos.
